Terms and Conditions – Cancellation Policy of Trekking Santa Marta

1. Overview of the Book
- Acceptance of Terms: When you confirm a booking with Trekking Santa Marta, the visitor agrees to all of these terms and conditions.
- Required information: For the booking, we will request personal information is essential (full name, id number, nationality, age and contact details), as well as any condition, relevant medical or special dietary needs that need to be reported to the team of Trekking Santa Marta.
- Confirmation of Booking: The booking will be considered confirmed only after we have received the payment or deposit has been agreed upon and what Trekking Santa Marta has sent an official confirmation.
2. Payments
- Deposit: We require a non-refundable deposit of 30% of the total value of the tour at the time of booking to secure your space.
- Final payment: The remaining balance must be paid no later than 5 days before the start date of the tour. In case you do not receive the final payment in the stipulated time, Trekking Santa Marta reserves the right to cancel the reservation without refund of the deposit.
- Payment methods: we Accept payment by: bank transfer, credit/debit cards (Visa, Mastercard), PayPal, cash (for local payments)]. Transaction costs, or fees associated with those methods of payment are the responsibility of the visitor.
3. Cancellations and Modifications

- More than 30 days before the start of the tour: We will refund 70% of payment in full, excluding the non-refundable deposit.
- Between 15 and 10 days before the start of the tour: We will refund 70% of payment in full, excluding the non-refundable deposit.
- Less than 2 days before the start of the tour or no show (no show): there will Not be any refund.
- Change of date: The date-change requests are subject to availability and an administration fee of 20 USD/COP, always and when requested a minimum of 10 days advance notice. No guaranteed date changes with less time.
- By Trekking Santa Marta:
- Trekking Santa Marta reserves the right to modify or cancel a tour due to force majeure, extreme weather conditions, natural disasters, closures of national parks, security issues, or any other circumstance beyond our control that puts at risk the safety of the participants.
- In these cases, you will be offered an alternative date or a full refund of the amount paid for the tour, at the choice of the visitor. Trekking Santa Marta is not responsible for additional costs incurred by the visitors (flight, lodging, etc.) due to cancellation.
4. Responsibilities of the Visitor
- Health and fitness: it Is the responsibility of the visitor to assess their own fitness and health to participate in the tour. If you have any pre-existing medical condition, you must notify Trekking Santa Marta at the time of booking.
- Documentation: it Is the responsibility of the visitor to carry identification documentation required (identity card, passport, etc) for entry to protected areas or points of control.
- Baggage and Personal belongings: The visitor is responsible for your luggage and personal belongings during the tour. Trekking Santa Marta is not responsible for the loss, theft or damage.
- Behavior: it Is expected behavior that is respectful with the guides, other participants, the local community and the environment. Any behavior that puts at risk the safety of the group or the damage to the ecosystem may result in the exclusion from the tour without refund.
- Follow Instructions: it Is obligatory to follow the instructions of the guides at all times for reasons of security and logistics.
5. Responsibilities of Trekking Santa Marta
- Security: we Prioritize the safety of our visitors. Our guides are trained in first aid and emergency management.
- Certified guides: we Provide local guides who are experienced and certified for each tour.
- Logistics: We take care of the coordination of the logistics of the tour, including transportation, food (according to the package) and the accommodation (according to the package).
- Insurance: Trekking Santa Marta has a safe travel assistance for all tour participants. However, it is strongly recommended that visitors purchase their own additional travel insurance that covers cancellations, medical emergencies and evacuation.
6. Applicable law and Jurisdiction
- These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of the Republic of Colombia. Any dispute arising in connection with these terms shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts located in Santa Marta, Colombia.
