DAY 1
CLIMB TO THE HEIGHTS AND PANORAMIC VIEWS
Your adventure begins with a pickup at 4×4 directly from your hotel. The tour takes you through Minca, the ecological capital, where the aroma of the coffee will envelop you. We ascend by a road steep, but with stunning views of the city of Santa Marta and the lagoon complex of Swamp, until you get to the Hostal de Moncho at 2,800 meters above sea level.
After a delicious coffee and a light breakfast, you will explore a trek for approximately 5 hours. You will enjoy a view 360° on the impressive Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, while on one side you see the city of Santa Marta and Tayrona Park. Keep your eyes open to spot endemic birds unique to this region. You will reach the highest point, the Cerro Kennedy, 3.060 meters high, from where you will start a descent to the comfortable Hostal Altos de la Sierra. There you will enjoy a lunch and the opportunity to share with locals, culminating the day with a bonfire at sunset.

MAGICAL SUNRISE, WATERFALLS AND THE PALACE OF THE CLOUDS
The second day is waiting for you with a sunrise dream, perfect for capturing the best selfie in front of the imposing glaciers. A good coffee and a delicious breakfast will give you the necessary energy to start the descent by a mountain forest, sub-andean, with its lush vegetation and an incomparable wealth of birds, including the quetzal, which is very common in the area.
We cross a steep trail in jungle thick until you find the majestic Waterfall, Aluna, where you can enjoy its impressive veil of water. Then, you will continue in a climb of about a mile until you reach the Palace of the Clouds. There, Lenin, your host, will welcome you with a delicious lunch and a comfortable room to rest. The afternoon will be dedicated to share with the family of Lenin and the sharing of knowledge, while you bask in the warmth of the campfire at the end of the afternoon. Dinner will be served in a cozy dining room, before going to bed.
DAY 3
CANYONS, WATERFALLS, AND BACK TO CIVILIZATION
The last day starts with a delicious coffee and a toast, but not before taking a selfie with the family of Lenin and their pets in front of the glaciers and the beautiful garden surrounding the Palace of the Clouds.
You will begin the ascent by a meadow trails of horseshoe with an infinite view to the grand canyon of the Guachaca. You can see waterfalls, mountains, and the singing of the birds to reach the peak, 2,200 metres in height. With luck and if the clouds permitted, you'll be able to catch a glimpse of the Tayrona Park and its beaches. Then, you will come to the farm The Lujana to meet up with Yesid, and Milena, your hosts, who will receive you with a delicious breakfast.
After a pause to regain your strength, we continue downhill until you reach the Waterfall Veil of the Bride to refresh your spirit. Finally, you can enjoy a delicious lunch at Farm Korea, surrounded by a landscape of coffee and the warm attention of Don Juan and his family. After a well deserved rest, the journey ends with a distance of three kilometers on a motorcycle enduro until Bonda, where a taxi will be waiting to return you to your hotel in the “Pearl of America”.
Recommendations for your Trekking in the Palace of the Clouds:
- Physical preparation: This trek is demanding. It is essential to have a good physical condition to enjoy it to the fullest. Considered hiking the pre-and cardiovascular exercises.
Suitable equipment:
- Footwear: trekking Boots-resistant and waterproof, preferably already “domadas” to avoid blisters.
- Clothing: Layers of lightweight and breathable for the day (quick-drying), a waterproof jacket and windproof to the rain and the cold in height. Change clothes for the evening.
