TREKKING LOST CITY – 4 DAYS AND 3 NIGHTS
adventure begins at 9:00 a.m, when a 4×4 vehicle will pick you up at your hotel. From there, you will take us on a journey of 2.5 hours for the Backbone of the Caribbean, enjoying picturesque landscapes until you reach the village of El Mamey, the starting point and the formal completion of the trek. Upon arrival, we will replace energies with a typical lunch, preparing for the adventure that is about to begin.
DAY 1: FIRST DAY: 4 HOURS – 10 KM
After lunch, we will start on the first trek of the Tour Lost City. This stage covers around 10 kilometers (4 hours tour). The route runs along a clear path, with little shade and some outstanding, therefore it is vital to stay hydrated, wear sunscreen and a hat to protect you from the sun.
While we are on the steep slopes, you'll start to feel the unique energy of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. We arrive at the Camp Adam at about 4:30 p. m., where we prepare to spend the night. If the weather allows, we will enjoy a bath, invigorating in a natural pool nearby before dinner and share in a group.
DAY 2: CAMP 1 TO CAMP 3
The second day begins at dawn, despertándonos at 5:00.m. with the first lights of the day illuminating the mountains. After an energizing breakfast, we start the route with two flights of trekking, adding up to a total of 18 kilometres.
The first trip of 9 miles, draws us into the depths of the tropical jungle. During the tour, we will cross the lush vegetation and arrive at Mutanzhi, an indigenous village where our guide will share fascinating reports about the traditions, beliefs and way of life of this ancestral community, who has lived in balance with nature for centuries.
After this enriching visit, we will continue the hike up to the Camp Mumake, where we expect a hearty lunch to replenish forces.
DAY 3: CAMP 3 – LOST CITY – CAMP 2
This is the third day marks the high point of the expedition. After a hearty breakfast and see the sunrise on the mountain, we take the road towards the heart archaeological site of Ciudad Perdida. We recommend leaving the big backpack in the camp and carry only what is essential.
The morning walk runs through 4 km along the river course, between trails that snake along the slopes of the mountain. Then, we expect the ascent by the 1,200 stone steps, built centuries ago by the Tayrona civilization that inhabited this sacred place. With each step, the jungle, we will discover the ancient terraces and stone structures that make up this mysterious archaeological site.
We will spend approximately 3 hours to explore this indigenous sanctuary. Our guide will reveal to us its historical significance, its spiritual connection with the ancestral communities that still guard, and the unique energy which permeates every corner, transform this visit into an experience that transcends the physical.
Final stretch | 4 km
After living the magic of the Lost City, we go down 1 kilometer to Step Lorenzo for lunch and to pick up our belongings. Then, we started the last walk of the evening: 10 kilometers (approximately 3 hours) that will bring us back to the Camp Mumake, where we will have dinner and spend our third night under a blanket of stars, surrounded by the sounds of the jungle.
DAY 4: CAMP 2 – THE MAMEY SAPOTE (END OF TOUR)
The last day of our adventure begins at dawn, with an energy breakfast that prepares us for the final stretch. We hope to 18 miles of walking divided into two stages.
First stage: 10 km
Head out through the deep jungle to get back to the Camp, Adam. Here we will pause to recharge with a light snack and enjoy for the last time of the peace of the natural environment.
Final stage: 8 km
The last leg takes us through trails open with little shade, where it is crucial to maintain hydration and a steady pace. With each step, we get closer to the end of this amazing journey.
Arrival and celebration
When you get to The Mamey sapote (our starting point), we expect a celebration luncheon to share the experiences. From here, we will take the transport back to Santa Marta.
